New Bike Selection Dilemma
If no one minds an ultra-newbie question -
I used to race motocross a lot and was a solid amateur winning a few national events in a past life, etc. A massive injury and marrying an orthopaedic trauma nurse put an end to that (although she's shockingly onboard - which is honestly shocking).
25+ years later I've gotten a very large itch for a motorcycle and already started assembling safety gear and downloading the Learner's Permit paperwork and Guide.
My #1 choice, really, is a Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone, but one dealership is far away and the other is a boob so maybe that's out because any hassle is the last thing I need.
The good local shops are Suzuki/KTM and Yamaha/Kawasaki with another that's not excessively far away that has all 4 plus Ducati, BMW and Triumph.
Checked out the Bonnevilles which seem really great, but I don't know - there's something about being retro with modern technology that seems like why not either just be a retro bike that actually is what it is or be a modern bike that's modern (if that makes sense).
With that, the two bikes that are sort of jumping out are the SV650 and Honda CB1100 EX (although the very local Honda shop is a boob).
The Yamaha/Kawasaki shop is a great one, but nothing there is overly jumping out.
Given all of the above would the SV650 possibly be the best place to not only start, but to maybe stay with for quite awhile? Some minor touring would be in the mix as well as riding with a passenger from time-to-time.
