Changing tires, do it yourself or have done at shop? Favorite method?

Technical Help Forum - cx500forum.com
I am currently working on a couple bikes hoping to get them both back on the road in the near future. One thing I am dreading is dealing with the tires. I have a 78 CX500 and an 82 CX500 turbo. Both will need new rubber before I would feel safe on them.

What shocked me was the local honda shop when asked about mounting and balancing a new tire they quoted around $50 a tire. Think they take $10 off if you bring them the wheel off the bike. This seemed bit much as suddenly labor is 1/3 or more of the cost to put new tires on these bikes.

Luckily I have some time to figure this out as I have some other work to do first. I was curious though what everyone else is doing. Looking around I found I can get some tools from harbor freight to do the job myself and will probably run me around $150-200 to get everything. Really looks very tempting though considering I would give that much to the honda dealer by the time I got 4 tires mounted.
